Highlighting the critical and innovative work of our grantee partners and outlines our community investments and grantmaking
Conceptualization
The Michigan Justice Fund works to support the economic mobility and success of people with criminal records, reduce reliance on confinement and adjudication, and stem the flow of individuals into the Michigan criminal legal system.
Each year, the Fund is required to create an annual report for funders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the work accomplished. It also functions as a celebration of our hard work and the accomplishments of our partners. This work can be emotionally challenging and it’s crucial to celebrate the wins as we contemplate how much work still needs to be done.
Editing process
We worked with a design firm that drafted copy and designed the report.
I spent dozens of hours editing copy, choosing photos, identifying statistics, coordinating interviews, and giving feedback on the design to ensure our branding and communication strategy was consistent throughout.
I utilized my extensive knowledge of the AP Style Guide and my subject matter knowledge to painstakingly edit the report.
Ultimately, it was my responsibility to finalize and perfect the report before it was printed and circulated.
